When I was kid I wanted a model horse that looked exactly like the first horse I ever rode, a quarter horse mare named Sugar. She was a chestnut with no stockings and a specific white blaze on her forehead. You’d be surprised how hard that was to find. Fast forward to now and I’ve discovered the world of model horse customizing. I finally have a model of Sugar, and I was the one to paint her!

If you’ve ever wished to have a model horse that looks like your real horse, a horse you ride, or your dream horse, I know how you feel. My custom model horses are painted in pastel with acrylic and colored pencil. Their logos are sanded and their air holes moved to a more discrete location. When finished, they are signed on their bellies, sealed, and have their eyes, nostrils, and hooves glossed. If you have a specific horse in mind when commissioning a model, photos from as many angles as possible, as well as close ups are appreciated. I do not claim LSQ (Live Show Quality) as that is subjective. However, my customs have placed in the Breyer Bootcamp 2021 Youth/Novice photo show, the Breyerfest 2021 Open Photo Show, the Breyerfest 2022 Resin Futurity Photo Show and the Breyerfest 2023 Resin Futurity Photo Show as well as at the three of the Great Lakes Congress (GLC) Live shows in 2023, including some NAN Placements and a Reserve Champion in the Custom Foal Division.
